What it is
Current work includes applied evaluation of computer-vision and AI approaches to Auslan recognition across different viewing conditions, accessibility prototypes, charitable-purpose datasets, and engagement with community, education and research stakeholders.
How it advances our purpose
It advances accessibility, inclusion and equitable participation for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people by improving accessible Auslan communication.
Who benefits
Deaf and hard-of-hearing people who use, or may benefit from, Auslan and accessible communication technologies.
Expected public benefit
Improved evidence, methods, resources and tools that reduce communication barriers and support more equitable participation.

How we deliver it

Like all of our work, this activity is delivered within our charitable purpose and governed by our board-approved policies. We co-design with people who have lived experience, engage relevant community, education and research partners, and apply proportionate safeguarding, privacy, ethics and conflict-of-interest controls.

Where the activity involves collaboration with partners or commercial entities, it proceeds only where it demonstrably advances our charitable purpose, on documented, fair, arm's-length terms. Any resources produced are held for public benefit, and progress is evaluated against real accessibility and inclusion outcomes.
