Vision

A future that includes everyone

Technology is reshaping how people learn, work, connect and participate. Our vision is that this future is built to include everyone — especially the people it too often forgets.

The world we are working toward

More than a billion people live with disability, and many more face barriers to full participation — through age, language, literacy, health, poverty or circumstance. As more of daily life moves through digital systems and artificial intelligence, those barriers can either widen or fall away. Which one happens is not inevitable. It is a choice made by the people who design, fund and govern technology.

Octopus Future exists to make the inclusive choice the default: accessible technology, inclusive communities, responsible AI, and opportunity that genuinely reaches the people most often left behind. We picture a world where a person's disability changes nothing about their ability to learn, work, create, connect and belong.

Why now

AI and digital systems are being built at extraordinary speed. The decisions being made right now — about design, data, access and accountability — will shape who gets to participate for a generation. Get them right and technology becomes the greatest accessibility tool ever built. Get them wrong and we hard-code exclusion into the systems that run everyday life.

We believe the people affected should help make those decisions, and that independent public-benefit organisations must be in the room — free of commercial pressure, and answerable to the communities they serve.

What good looks like

We measure our vision not in technology shipped, but in lives made fuller: someone who can now read the document, join the meeting, use the service, get the job, tell their story, or simply be understood. Accessibility, in the end, is about dignity and participation — the ordinary things everyone deserves.

How we pursue it

We pursue this vision through five connected areas — community and accessibility, applied research, wellbeing, responsible AI, and inclusive innovation — all delivered by an independent not-for-profit governed for public benefit, and always alongside the people we serve.
